BEIJING, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- The Hanjiang River, which is a major tributary of the Yangtze River, has flooded for the second time this year following torrential rains, the Ministry of Water Resources said on Friday.
The inflow at the Danjiangkou Reservoir, which is situated in the upper-middle stretch of the river, reached 15,000 cubic meters per second on Friday, according to the ministry.
Further sustained water level rises are expected in the upper Hanjiang, with meteorological forecasts predicting two significant bouts of rainfall in the river basin over the next 10 days.
The ministry has been guiding efforts to monitor the situation closely, and to refine the response to further rainfall. ■
