FIS chief Eliasch appointed to two IOC groups

GENEVA, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- The International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) announced Monday that its president, Johan Eliasch, has been appointed to two roles within the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Eliasch, an IOC member, will serve on the Commercial Partnerships and Marketing Working Group, one of four new working groups created under IOC President Kirsty Coventry's Fit For the Future initiative. He has also been named to the IOC Coordination Commission for the French Alps 2030 Olympic Winter Games.

According to the FIS, the Commercial Partnerships and Marketing Working Group will review the IOC's programs, platforms and systems, assess how it engages with partners, and explore opportunities to remain competitive in the global market.

"It is an honor to contribute to shaping the future of the Olympic Movement through these important roles," Eliasch said in a statement. "Both the development of innovative commercial strategies and the successful delivery of the French Alps 2030 Games are vital to ensuring the continued growth, relevance and impact of the Olympic Winter Games."
