KAMPALA, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- The Kampala International Badminton Championship 2025 capped off on Sunday with two Indian players emerging champions in the men's and women's singles finals.
Harsheel Dani played a tactical game to defeat top seed Hein Htut from Myanmar 16-14, 6-15, 16-14 in a tense final at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala.
"I am very glad that I have emerged champion in this tournament. I played against a very tough opponent," Dani told Xinhua after the final.
In the women's singles final, another Indian player Rujula Ramu edged Jenjira Stadelmann of Switzerland 12-15, 15-9, 15-11.
Stadelmann later paired with Leila Zarrouk to defeat Lim Xuan and Joanne Ng of Malaysia 15-7, 15-5 in the women's doubles final. "I am happy that after failing to win in the women's singles final, I have managed to win in the doubles," said Stadelmann.
The men's doubles title was won by the pair from Malaysia Ashraf Daniel Md Zakaria and Ariffin Nazri Md Zakaria who defeated Chiranjeevi Reddy Sundar and Dharmagna Mandapati of India 12-15, 15-8, 15-12.
In the whole Malaysian affair, Ashraf Daniel md Zakaria and Lim Xuan beat Zi Xiang Chong and Joanne Ng 8-15, 15-13, 16-14 in the mixed doubles final. ■
