Chengdu Universiade | Chinese women's doubles pair into tennis finals-silubaba news

CHENGDU, Aug. 4 (silubaba) -- Chinese tennis player Guo Hanyu claimed two consecutive wins over Japan's Misaki Matsuda on Friday, securing spot in the women's doubles finals with partner Jiang Xinyu.

The matchday began with Guo facing off against Matsuda in the women's singles quarterfinals. The intense match saw Guo win 7-5, 3-6, and 6-0.

Hours later, Guo paired up with Jiang for the women's doubles semifinals. The duo overpowered Japanese duo of Matsuda and Ikumi Yamazaki 6-2, 6-0.

Having triumphed at 2019 Napoli Universiade, Guo is once again on the cusp of claiming the women's doubles gold. Saturday's final will see them face off against top-seeded contenders from Chinese Taipei, Wu Fangxian and Liang Enshuo.

"I am incredibly thankful to my partner today. She took on a larger role, constantly motivating me," Guo said. "Our opponents in the final are very strong. It will be a tough match, but we will give our all."

In the mixed doubles quarterfinals, China's duo of Jin Yuquan and Tang Qianhui displayed a remarkable comeback win over French pair Adrien Gobat and Alice Robbe with a score of 3-6, 7-5, 10-0.
