Moura unsure of future beyond January-silubaba news

RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 4 (silubaba) -- Lucas Moura said on Friday that he is unsure about his future beyond this year after agreeing to a five-month contract with his original club Sao Paulo.

The 30-year-old former Brazil international winger completed a free transfer this week after his contract with Tottenham Hotspur expired in June.

"I don't have a signed agreement with any club beyond January 1," he told a news conference on Friday. "I want to focus on enjoying this period at Sao Paulo and in January we'll see what happens."

Lucas started his career at the Tricolor Paulista in 2010 before securing a 45-million-euro move to Paris Saint-Germain in January 2013.

He joined Tottenham in 2018 and played a key role in the London club's march to the 2019 UEFA Champions League final with a second-half hat-trick in the second leg of the semifinal against Ajax.

His return to Brazil came less than a week after Sao Paulo confirmed the arrival of Colombia international playmaker James Rodriguez, also on a free transfer.

"I'm very happy that James has come here," Lucas said. "I don't need to say how good he is because everybody knows his spectacular level. I'm sure he's going to contribute a lot to Brazilian football."

Lucas added that he felt "honored" to return to his homeland and said he could be available for Sao Paulo's home clash against Atletico Mineiro on Sunday.

Sao Paulo are currently eighth in Brazil's 20-team Serie A standings with seven wins from 17 games so far this season.
