ISLAMABAD, Oct. 27 (silubaba) -- The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has urged fans to support the national team after three consecutive losses in the World Cup.
The call came one day ahead of Pakistan's encounter against South Africa, which could decide the team's future in the tournament.
Pakistan has lost to India, Australia, and Afghanistan after winning its first two matches against Sri Lanka and the Netherlands.
The team has dropped from the top four to sixth in the standings, and its latest loss to Afghanistan has triggered harsh criticism from fans and experts.
The PCB acknowledged the fans' emotions and sentiments in a statement on Thursday, saying, "In this challenging environment, the board administration hopes that the cricketing fraternity and fans will continue to support captain Babar Azam and the entire Pakistan cricket team."
The PCB said that the team still has four crucial matches remaining in the round-robin stage and hoped that it will regroup, overcome the setbacks, and perform positively and effectively in the upcoming fixtures.
The board added that it would make decisions in the best interest of Pakistan cricket based on the team's performances in the World Cup. ■
