BUENOS AIRES, July 27 (Xinhua) -- United States international midfielder Matko Miljevic struck a stunning second-half goal as Huracan edged to a 1-0 home win over Boca Juniors in Argentina's Primera Division Clausura tournament on Sunday.
Miljevic pounced on a loose ball just after the hour and curled a first-time 25-yard shot into the far corner, leaving goalkeeper Agustin Marchesin with no chance.
The result extended Boca's winless run to 11 matches across all competitions - the club's longest streak without a victory since its foundation.
Miguel Angel Russo, who replaced Mariano Herron as manager in June, urged Boca's fans not to lose faith in the team.
"I take responsibility for everything and I apologize to Boca fans," he said. "I don't think we've hit rock bottom, but we have to work to change the way we play. I'm not used to losing and it's up to me to turn this around."
The defeat leaves Boca 13th in the 15-team Group A standings with two points, one behind 11th-placed Huracan.
In other fixtures on Sunday, River Plate was held to a goalless home draw by San Lorenzo, Gimnasia won 1-0 at home to Independiente, and Talleres Cordoba drew 0-0 at home to Godoy Cruz. ■
