Indonesian climber aims for gold at 2025 World Games in Chengdu

JAKARTA, Aug. 4 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian rock climber Veddriq Leonardo said on Monday that he is targeting a gold medal at the 2025 World Games in China this month.

The 12th edition of the World Games is scheduled to take place from August 7 to 17 in Chengdu.

Veddriq said his preparation is in final stage, with his focus now on fine-tuning his physical condition and adapting to the competition venue.

"This month, in the second week, we're leaving for the World Games. So, preparations are as usual, just adapting there, getting food, training, and rest, all optimized. Indonesia's target is, of course, gold," he was quoted as saying by local media.

At the 2025 World Games, Indonesia will be represented by eight rock climbers, comprising four men and four women, competing in the speed category.

Chengdu will be the third Asian city to host the World Games since the event was first held in 1981.
