CHENGDU, Aug. 17 (Xinhua) -- Zhang Hao secured China's second gold medal in roller sports at The World Games, winning the men's classic slalom in inline freestyle skating on Sunday before teammate Zhu Siyi clinched the women's title.

The 20-year-old Zhang, fresh from winning men's speed slalom gold on Saturday, celebrated his second championship at the Games. Italy's Valerio Degli Agostini took silver, while China's Wang Yuxuan earned bronze.

"I'm very excited to win, and I am going to prepare for the 15th National Games," said Zhang, a Chengdu native, adding that he felt nervous competing at home but was happy with the results.

China finished the roller sports program with three gold, three silver and three bronze medals across inline hockey, speed skating and inline freestyle skating.

In the women's classic slalom, Zhu topped the podium ahead of teammate Liu Jiaxin, who earned silver. Spain's Laura Oria Albelda claimed bronze.

Classic slalom requires athletes to perform intricate technical and artistic moves between three rows of cones, choreographed to music. Performances are judged on both technical execution and artistic impression.

Lan Wangheng, coach of China's inline freestyle skating team, said the squad had long emphasized physical conditioning, technique and control in preparing for the Games.

"The team's development in recent years has started to pay off," Lan said. "We hope to promote roller sports from a niche event to wider public recognition and eventually see it included in the Olympic Games."

The roller sports competitions at the Chengdu World Games concluded on Sunday.
