Chinese shares close higher Monday

BEIJING, Aug. 18 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.85 percent to 3,728.03 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.73 percent higher at 11,835.57 points. ■
