Bolivia to face South Korea, Japan in friendlies

LA PAZ, Sept. 12 (Xinhua) -- Bolivia will play friendlies against South Korea and Japan in November as part of its preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs, the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) said on Friday.

The South American side will meet South Korea - at a venue yet to be confirmed - on November 14 and Japan in Tokyo four days later, the FBF said on its social media pages.

The matches will follow friendlies against Jordan in Türkiye and Russia in Moscow next month.

On Tuesday, Bolivia beat Brazil 1-0 in El Alto to secure a place in the intercontinental playoff tournament, to be played in Mexico next March.

Oscar Villegas' team will vie for one of two places on offer against two teams from North, Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF) as well as one each from the African, Asian and Oceania confederations.

Bolivia is seeking its first appearance at the World Cup finals since the 1994 tournament in the United States.
