TOKYO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- The women's 1500m world record set by Kenya's Faith Kipyegon at the Diamond League meeting in Eugene on July 5 has been ratified by World Athletics.
The three-time Olympic champion clocked 3 minutes 48.68 seconds to take 0.36 off the world record of 3:49.04 she set in Paris on July 7, 2024.
The 31-year-old Kipyegon is also bidding to win her fourth 1500m world title at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo. She won the event in the 2017, 2022 and 2023 worlds. ■
